Lady on the Island is an artistic and musical ambition of mine for solo harp for some time. The inspiration for the album title, Lady On The Island, comes from a beautiful reel that I love to play with my father, Mick, who is a source of constant musical inspiration to me. The collection of tunes, airs and compositions on the album represent my deep roots in Irish traditional music and my interpretation of its soundscape.The music on this album is a collective musical tapestry of tunes which I have learned from the great icons of Irish traditional music and sean-nós, icons who inspire me and whom I greatly admire. Finally, this album is dedicated to the memory of my great friend, Mick Moloney.

A multi-instrumentalist, Michelle was awarded the prestigious 2006 TG4 Young Musician of the year & Female Musician of the Year 2013 at the Live-Ireland awards.
